Fiddes Liming Wax is designed to give a white shade or to give a limed appearance to stained or bare wood. The deeper grained woods, such as Oak, will give more contrast in the grain as more wax is caught. Fiddes Liming Wax will fill the pores of the wood to give a contrasting white tone, which will emphasise the grain over the whole surface.
Preparation: Sand the wood in stages, beginning with , working in the direction of the grain where possible. Use a to open the wood pores to make them more receptive to the wax. It will also remove any remaining dust in the pores. For a more resilient base for the wax you can apply a coat of .
Application: Apply liberally with a cloth, or sponge working well into the grain in a circular motion. When the surface is covered, wipe lightly across the grain making sure the wax stays in the open pores. Leave for 5-10 minutes then buff in the direction of the grain with a soft cotton cloth. Finish with a coat of clear wax, such as Fiddes Light, which will protect the surface and enhance the sheen.
